"A squint" is surely an equally acceptable, not to mention 'nicer', answer to this question – even though Wikipedia goes for "crossed eyes".
Wikipedia does provide a link to Oxford Learner's Dictionaries, which defines strabismus as "the condition of having a squint (= when one eye looks in a different direction from the other)."
